“Deal is Done! Love you, Who Dat Nation. See you soon!”

Praise Breesus! Drew Brees, the 1st of his name & Warden of the Crescent City, finally put pen to paper & signed a $100 million dollar, 5-year deal, $60 million of which is guaranteed & thus ended… BREESAGEDDON.  This comes much to the relief of Who Dat Nation who have had quite a bit of a maelstrom of an offseason, what with all the Mafioso Goodell “bounty” fallout.  With this Brees will obviously avoid having the franchise tag placed on him & now he can get back down to business of being über-awesome.

Brees’ contract is also a record as he’ll be the 1st NFL player to make $20 million a year & the 1st to have that much money guaranteed.  Blessed be his name…

Holey moooooley, he’s signed! WHO DAT!

In Arsenal news, supposedly Barcelona has offered Ibrahim Afellay to us & Inter for “only” €6 million.  This would be a bit surprising to me with our recent, tetchy history with Barcelona over “poaching” some of their young players.  But if it’s true, I think I’d jump on this deal if I were Wenger.  Anything under €10 million these days for a young player with a good bit a talent is a bit of a steal & afellay is one of those nouveau attacking players that can play all over- up front, on the wings, in a withdrawn role, etc.

This is the kind of deal where I think you jump on it & figure out where to fit a player like Afellay in later on.  He’s probably better or more consistent than Gervinho, in my opinion,  and more versatile as he can play in the middle too.  Afellay is basically more of Nasri type of player as opposed to an out & out wide forward from the times I’ve seen him.  If €6 million is all Barca is asking, take it. However, with Wenger manning the transfers, you never know what to expect so let’s not get our hopes up too much but we could do far worse & more expensive than a player like Afellay.

“Hi, Arsenal…. how YOUUUUUUU doin’ ? (wink)”
