As I posted last night, it won’t surprise you to know that when Arsenal officially announced the squad set to travel to the Far East for their Asian pre-season tour, not amongst the boys was Robin Van Persie.  RvP looks determined to move even with Le Boss stating as late as this morning that he’d like to keep Robin.  We all know how this will turn out, however- Wenger will whisper sweet nothings about aesthetics of play, loyalty, etc. & the player will just reply, “I like money:”

Dollars, pounds, euros, oh my!

Interestingly enough though, you’ll notice that several key first team players besides Robin won’t make the trip including shiny new toys, Lukas Podolski & Olivier Giroud.  Bacary Sagna not going is understandable as he’s still rehabbing from his second leg break late last season, as well as Jack Wilshere whom we knew awhile back would be out until September with his ankle issues.  Worryingly though, Tomas Rosicky & Emmanuel Frimpong are now set to miss the opening weeks of the season as well.  However, Mikel Arteta is deemed fit along with, wait for it… wait for it… wait for iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit, ABOU MUTHA EFFIN’ DIABY.  Truly its blue skies ahead for the club!…

Other key players set to miss the trip are Per Mertesaecker (shut it, Chad) & Laurent Koscielny.  Basically most of the players who played at the Euros won’t be making the trip as the Professor has deemed them short of competitive fitness.  Or maybe he left them all behind to brainwash van Persie into staying with some sort of peer pressure ritual complete with Crowleyesque magick incantations & van Persie being forced to kneel inside a ward guarded with sacred geometrical shapes.

Which one will make van Persie stay?!

The full list of players set to make the Asian trip:   Goalkeepers: Lukasz Fabianski, Vito Mannone, Wojciech Szczesny; Defenders: André Santos, Kyle Bartley, Johan Djourou, Kieran Gibbs, Carl Jenkinson, Ignasi Miquel, Thomas Vermaelen, Nico Yennaris; Midfielders: Chuks Aneke, Mikel Arteta, Francis Coquelin, Abou Diaby, Craig Eastmond, Thomas Eisfeld, Alex Song; Forwards: Benik Afobe, Marouane Chamakh, Gervinho, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Ryo Miyaichi, Theo Walcott

Now, for the daily transfer tidbits that gets everybody’s juices flowing:

Park Chu-Young (or maybe Ryo Miyaichi) is being linked to a UAE side Al-Ain.  Meanwhile, Ryo is definitely being linked with Ajax Amsterdam.  That would be an excellent loan opportunity for Ryo as he’d be immersed in the famed Ajax training environment.

On his way to Ajax to work with former Gunner, Marc Overmars?
