Terry Burton made his reserves managerial debut, though the team was officially dubbed an “Arsenal XI.”  The junior Gunners downed Boreham Wood FC this afternoon by a score of 3-1.  Gunner goals were scored by Sanchez Watt (who I thought had been released by the club) & the highly regarded duo of Chuba Akpom & Kristoffer Olsson.

No, I don’t have any video for the match but besides the game report from the official site linked above, here’s another good entry on the friendly from the excellent Jeorge Bird blog, who concentrates on the youth & reserve sides of Arsenal.

How the young Arsenal XI lined up:

Martinez

Ebecilio-Angha-Monteiro-Meade

Hajrovic-Henderson

Rees-Olsson-Akpom

Watt

Interesting that Hajrovic played as a defensive midfielder as he is listed as a centerback & Ebecilio played right back whilst normally being a midfielder.  It’s also good to see Conor Henderson return from injury as he missed all of last year after breaking into the 1st team late in the season 2 years ago due to his industrious nature of play.

First Arsenal friendly, albeit it a reserve side one for all intents & purposes, in the books & it’s a victorious one!  Huzzah!

16-year old Chuba Akpom is highly regarded at the club
